Chapter 1: ‘Bite the Bullet’
John Black woke up. It was his first day at work in almost a month. The bank where he worked had been closed due to the recent flood. He got up and got ready for work. While he was eating breakfast he noticed that his watch said 8:30–he was already 15 minutes late! He grabbed his coat and ran out the door. He noticed that all the houses were going by very quickly. When he got there a man was standing outside the bank with his mouth wide open. The man said “You just outran all those cars!” John looked at him like he was crazy and walked inside. He had just sat down when the man from outside ran in carrying a gun. He fired it twice into the ceiling and screamed “Everybody hand over the cash!” John’s desk was closest to the door, so he picked up a chair to hit the armed man with. But the armed man shot him with his gun. John assumed he missed. He had actually hit him, however, but the bullet bounced off. The truth is, John is a magical being, but he does not know it. John than hit him with the chair and the robber fell unconscious onto the floor. Then John said, “The first day is always the most exiting!” as he dropped the shattered chair.
